Even the most advanced NPR (non-photorealistic rendering) plug-ins do not yet understand anatomy, composition, appeal, performance, design, contrast, symbolism, drama, storytelling, good lighting, good camera work, straight-against-curve, color or character.

Learn these tools. Without them, a celshaded render will never resemble a good animation cel.

To quote Milt Kahl: "You can't beat understanding what you're doing. That seems such an obvious truth, but you'd be surprised how many people won't take that route."
